On 26 February 2018 Rome woke up to the muffled sounds of a city shrouded in snow. Schools and public buildings were closed and the streets treacherous. In the interests of curiosity (and with a four wheel drive) I went around town and took lots of photographs of this phenomenon which somehow never ceases to be relentlessly exciting. Here are some of my photos from 26 and 28 February 2018.
Two days later everything was more or less back to normal and the sun was out, but there was still snow on the ground.
And that was the most recent time Rome had a major snowfall. It was pretty magical.
Lovely photos! I didn’t think Rome could be any more photogenic but it’s remarkable what a dusting of snow can do.
