And any of us who have had you as a tour guide are grateful that you persisted, and also, would never have guessed you were ever shy. Sweet photo of the both of you, x

I really enjoyed reading this Agnes. Your description of arriving in Rome reminded me of my travelling adventures in my 20’s pre-cellphone. I hope I can join you on a tour in Rome one day soon.

I love re reading this post . I LOVE the fact that you were able to travel to Rome on a whim and stay there . Sad that is now denied to others. especially our young people

Very sad. There was a window of 24 years between Maastricht and Brexit. It never occurred to me I was doing anything unusual, I just assumed that was how things had always been.

The tour yesterday was the greatest pleasure from the first to the last moment -- I learned soooo much, you filled in so many blanks, connected so many threads, I am in awe of what you know and how you use it. And there was that delightful moment when I noticed that on the Sistine Chapel's roof, there is God's naked butt. No buts about it, that's what it is. I've been chuckling ever since.

Yours, also accidentally emigrated, Ulrike
